She always wore the same kind of robes; layered fabric in simple colors that hid her figure rather than enhanced it. She was only a few steps away, but the dimming light from a handful of candles made it difficult to read her expression. “Pardon me?”
Amber raised an eyebrow. “Girls? Athel does like girls, doesn’t he?”

He should have gone to his room and slept off this pathetic state. That was the plan.
But he’s so drunk his vision is blurred, his footing unsteady, his mind clouded. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t focus. His consciousness, a voice at the back of his head- reliable and rational- sounded unclear, so far away it’s nothing but a weak murmur. Another voice, though, the one he shushes quite often, is so loud over the thick mist coating his mind.
He shouldn’t listen to it. Alcohol decreases your inhibitions, which leads to poor decision-making. Regrettable decision-making.
He knocks on Frieren’s door.
