“Jennifer Hayes was crying!” Dustin cut in, a sappy smile on his face as he looked at Will knowingly.
Will frowned, confused and a bit guilty. Jen had cried because she thought he had died? He couldn’t help that feeling of guilt from coming back. But, why was Dustin looking at him like that? With a knowing expression and that sappy grin; it was almost like he was suggesting-

Will raised an eyebrow at his friend's antics, then dropped his eyes to where he knew Dustin had reached a hand out towards him.
“This summer, we stick together. You and me, Byers.”
Will grinned, taking Dustin’s hand and shaking it. “You and me, Henderson.”
A rewrite of S3:
The night Dustin gets back from Camp Knowhere, he brings the Party up to the highest point in Hawkins to set up Cerebro. He thought that his friends would be excited to have him back-- even if it wasn't the most entertaining to sit on a hill and talk into a radio with no response, he thought they would at least wait for him before going home. He thought it was going to be the best summer ever.
Instead, he finds himself and the one friend that didn't leave him, Will Byers, intercepting a weird Russian transmission.
And, well... if he couldn't have the best summer ever, at least he and Will would have an eventful one.

What the hell?
When Dustin became morning announcer, he had proposed a prank that would turn Hawkins High upside down. He’d stuff the ballot box, get one of them voted as Spring Fling King or Queen and then laugh at everyone’s reactions.
Will getting nominated wasn't part of the plan.

Summary
Will was going to throw himself down this stupid hill and roll all the way home if he had to hear Dustin repeat the name ‘Suzie’ one more time.
It was hot out today, too hot. Far too humid for Will’s liking, it was the kind of humidity that made you want to crawl out of your skin just to escape the feeling of your own melting skin. Will’s clothes felt all moist and stuck uncomfortably onto his skin, his hair clung to his forehead and the back of his neck. He hated it when things felt stuck to his neck, and he hated sweating. He also couldn’t stand the cold(he likes it cold), but he can't stand it when it’s too hot. It makes him feel like he’s burning, burning and helpless.
Or
What if Will knew about some of the things going on with Dustin? What if Will gets closer to the girls of the group?
What if they hadn't gotten all the particles of the mind flayer out of Will back in season 2? What if the evil inside of Will's body wants out, but wants to keep it's host(parent?).
