Once the last of the padding dropped to the floor, Neil had a full view of Andrew’s torso. Now he was paying extra attention, he could see the way his stomach and hips bulged a little over the waistband of his shorts, the slight softness of his chest, and the extra muscle on his arms and shoulders.
“Jesus, Neil,” Nicky said. Neil spared him a glance and didn’t like the look he was given in return. “Do me a favour and stop eye-fucking my cousin right in front of me?”
Andrew gains extra weight and muscle. Neil is, for lack of a better word, obsessed.

“No, Coach. Jesus. It’s not that, it’s—” he huffed a sigh, then threw all caution to the wind. “It’s the full moon. I want to give him a chance to get his energy out, see if having all that space helps.”
After seeing Andrew spend every full moon chained up in a basement, Neil thinks of a way for the next one to be a little more enjoyable. And maybe things get a little heated in the days running up to it, too.

The day after Neil disappeared in the middle of the night, Kevin called.
Andrew stared at his phone as it rang. He was in the process of opening a can of cat food, which was a two-handed activity. He set down the can opener and picked up the phone.
“What,” he said.
“You were fucking Nathaniel Wesninski?”
Andrew knew Neil’s real name, and he knew where he had come from. He’d known since the beginning. Neil was a good liar, but he was an obvious liar. Andrew didn't mention any of that to Kevin. Instead, he said, “Who?”or: andrew quits smoking, and he goes to the olympics. eventually, neil comes back.

He should get Neil a souvenir.
He looks to his left, to his right and to his left again, making sure nobody is looking at him while he quickly shoves the shirt into his bag. Maybe he’ll piss off an equipment manager, but it’ll be so worth it.
