    “Have you ever seen Shane with a girl?”

    “Besides Rose,” Jackie says firmly. “They weren’t together very long, either, right? I mean, I didn’t even get to meet her! And, they stayed friends after.”

    Jackie stands from the bar stool and leans against the island, crossing her arms over her chest. “I don’t get it. What does that have to do with anything?”
