“Pomni?”
Jax's voice is low again, face turning entirely her way, and she only then notices how close he is to feel his breath against her skin. Hands still far apart.
“You mentioned not liking being forgotten,” he recalls, eyes drifting down to his hands.
She nods. “It hurts.”
“What if that person… the one who forgot you, wanted to forget?”
To be forgotten and afraid is Pomni's greatest fear. Post the events of their ringmaster's death, she seeks out someone who might understand.

The guilty can't bear to ask for favors, and the irredeemable certainly don't deserve to. Jax is no exception, but Pomni won't let him be.

This is a parody of trashy romance novels like 50 Shades Of Grey where the romance is forced and both characters are so terribly written it comes off as both misogynistic and misandrist.

Summary
Pomni "falls" in a lake made of stupid sauce on one of Caine's adventures. The problem with stupid sauce, is that no one has a filter on it. Another problem can arise when you suspect a mischievous rabbit to actually have nice tendencies, even when other people don't believe him. The biggest problem is that it can reveal animosities one has against the people who appear the nicest.
All Jax can do it watch while Pomni manages to embarrass him in front of everyone more than she embarrasses herself.

“Jax? Did he..? Did he threaten you?” Ragatha felt her heart drop, despite her talk with kinger she still couldn't help but blame herself for leaving Pomni with Jax, her hand wrapped the wooden arm of her rocking chair.
“What.? No! No no.. I'm worried for him, I mean..” she shuffled on ragatha's bed, “ I've never met someone before they abstracted but…” she could only make herself make eye contact for a second at a time before looking back at her hands, or the bed or anything else.
