Summary
An ordinary winter evening in the Shipman household was interrupted by an unexpected knock at the door.
Hardly a convenient time for guests – outside the harsh Arctic winds battled one another, while twirling around in the emptiness of the frozen fields. The sun, which had not offered warmth for a long time, had hidden away, as if afraid of freezing over in that wasteland where it hung, in that wasteland where they lived.
Somehow, in the midst of this disaster, there was a voice.
It came right after a series of loud demanding bangs at their door, and, inexplicably, despite being utterly frail and desperate, it seemed to pierce to the very essence, reaching the core, touching something deep inside and refusing to let go.At last, enchanted, Shauna let that strange force in, bringing the winter lunge inside – for better or for worse.
