Summary
She jerks back, ankle knocking against the corner of a barstool, causing her to wince.
Buck blinks, thrown, his hand dropping from her chin. “Hey—what? Did I—”
Shaking her head, she smiles. “No, just—later. I’m— Buck, I’m covered in someone else’s blood. Feels like a bad call for a first kiss.”
Buck stares at her blankly for a beat. Then, softly, he says, “Eddie.”
Her nose scrunches. “I know. It’s— second kiss. Technically. But—”
“Eddie,” he cuts in, “I brought up marriage five minutes into this date. I asked if you thought Bobby would officiate. I live in your house. I’m in your will, and have been for— half a decade.”
or: Buck and Eddie’s first date has gone a little sideways, but is far from ruined.

Summary
“So, if he’s not your boyfriend, does that mean he’s single?”
Eddie’s stomach churns at the question.
“Um, well—”
Tom cuts him off.
“Do you think he’d say yes if I asked him out?”
Eddie doesn't know why he does it. He just knows that the idea of this man, Tom, wanting to ask Buck out makes him feel like he's going to throw up, so before he can even think about it, he blurts out—
“Oh, sorry, man, I just meant that he’s my husband, not my boyfriend.”
or; When Buck and Eddie are in Nashville for the firefighter competition, Eddie accidentally tells one of the other firefighters that he and Buck are married. It goes about as well as you'd expect.

Summary
“Your turn on the bull now, Texas.”
Eddie blinks. “Sorry, what?”
“I signed you up.”
“No, you didn’t,” Eddie insists. “You signed you up.”
“Yep,” he confirms with a grin, “And then I signed up the one and only: Edmundo Diaz. Get your ass up there, man.”
“You cannot be ser–”
The microphone crackles to life. “Next up, we have… Oh, what a treat. We’ve got another firefighter in our midst tonight!” The announcer calls out. The crowd erupts into the same cheers that’d echoed through the bar when Buck had been announced. “Eddie, come on down!”
Eddie levels Buck with a flat, unimpressed look. “I’m not goin’ up there.”
Or: Buck and Eddie have fun in (and outside of) a bar in Nashville.

Summary
Dragging a hand down his face, Eddie says, “It was thirty seconds.”
“Of betrayal,” Buck says darkly.
A laugh bursts out of Eddie. “You’re–”
“I’m what?” Buck advances on him before stopping abruptly in the middle of the room. Behind him, the curry they’d been working on sizzles, oil burning. Neither of them does anything about it. “I’m right?”
“Jumping to conclusions,” Eddie grits out. He hates being cornered like this. “Like you always do.”
“Oh, okay,” Buck says, too brightly. “Same way you keep jumping through hoops to avoid saying anything you actually want to fucking say?”
Buck’s not being fair. None of this is fair. It’s not right, it’s not–
“Fuck you,” Eddie snaps.
OR: Buck and Eddie argue after Buck hooks up with a married couple.

Summary
Eddie huffs and throws his hands out. “I don’t know what you want from me, Buck. Do you want me to say I hate it? ’Cause I don’t!”
“I want you to tell me the truth.”
“I am telling you the truth! I’m sorry it’s not apparently whatever it is you want to hear, but I can’t actually read your mind, and I don’t know what it is you want me to say. I like the house. I liked the party. I don’t like being treated like a damn stranger.”
Eddie sees the moment Buck’s restraint finally snaps. “Then stop making yourself one!”
Or
Buck hosts a housewarming party, everyone keeps asking Eddie what he thinks of the new place, and he can't figure out why it feels like lying when he says he likes it.
