    Summary

    Summary

Empty, the greatsword, is. Empty, with a bitter underline of regret. Broken, too. Like the boy in front of him, yes, much like.

“Do you…” Says the boy who will bear the world. Small, too, his voice is. “Can you repair it?”

    “I can.” Chartonus replies.

Of the Grand Craftsman and the hero without name, through the years. A relationship that grows quietly like rocks heated by the sun.

    Summary

Returning to the Flagship and lending Flins his clothes is definitely done out of pure intention. He's genuinely trying to take care of the fae and he has long learned that it's in Flins' nature to be quite mischievous, but...

With the calmness and the elegant grace of a smug cat, the ratnik turns his head and looks up at him with a pleased, challenging smile on his face.

“As I said before, you’re a very warm and comfortable chair.” Flins shrugs. "One hundred percent recommended for a wet and cold fae."

    .

(A disbelieving bark of laughter automatically escapes Varka at the bold move.)
(But even then, affection seeps out of him as he pats and strokes the side of Flins’ head, before sliding to the fae's temple and rubbing it slowly.)

“Right. So, uh, how much are you asking for this thing? This book of yours.”

Dori leans back in, her grin widening to reveal sharp teeth. “Oh, I thought you’d never ask, Grandmaster!” she purrs, each word as sweet as honey taken straight from the comb. “Why, it’s only fifty thousand mora.”

Varka doesn’t quite choke on his own saliva, but it’s a close thing. “Fifty what now?”

“Oh, don’t be like that,” Dori scolds with a shake of her head. “Anyone else would be asking for much more – it’s not every day you stumble upon a book this old and this useful too! A guide to courting for, ah, individuals specific to Nod-Krai and Snezhnaya? It’s practically a trove of information, Sir Varka! Really now, it’s only because you’re my most loyal, most esteemed, most valuable customer that I can afford naming such a low price.”

Or: Varka gets swindled into buying a Fae courting guide, written by a human for other humans. He's also forced to come to terms with his own feelings regarding a certain Lightkeeper (who might or might not be Fae). Shenanigans ensue as he attempts to follow this dubious yet somehow effective guide to the very end.

    Summary

"Okay," Illuga says in a whisper, then once more as if assuring himself, a steadier squeeze to Flins's hand when he says more sure, more certain: "I'm ready now."

Oh, dear. What an endearing little spark he's found. Flins is half-tempted to pluck a piece of him to devour in entirety. It would be Flins' right, as the holder of this boy's name, and to use up the debt Illuga unknowingly crafted himself.

Perhaps this very night. A fleeting memory for the boy that he will lose over time, anyway, as human memory is wont to do. Flins could simply—nudge that timeline along, quicken its erasure until its sits whole and content in the vessel of his body to taste and experience whenever he may so desire as the years pass, lost to this child, made but a dream or an illusion.

Flins closes his eyes, squeezes gentle, ever so soft against the steady pulse beneath the pads of his fingers as he lets Illuga continue to hold his hand. Waves the idea of taking something away with a rueful craving that will linger long after Flins has returned to his lighthouse and bid the child goodbye.

Flins offers his protection as a marriage price. It really only gets worse for him from there.
