Summary
In a world between worlds, nineteen people have been plucked from wherever they were to sit and watch a message. The message appears to take place almost two years prior to their current lives, and involves a group of teenage dragon riders. Most of them know the infamous Dragon Riders, but none of them have the same relationship with them. Some haven’t even met them yet. But all of them have the exact same question: what compelled these teenagers to brave getting on a dragon’s back in the first place?
Alongside the riders dragons themselves, these people are forced to sit and watch the past play out, seeing things that no one else has seen, stuff that even the people who were present when it all started weren’t aware of. Secrets are revealed, seeds are planted, and perspectives are changed or challenged as they watch the beginning of a very, very long message.

Techno slammed his fists against the transparent wall of his prison, trying his best to break it down. His captors backed up, whistling anxiously to each other.
He gave the barrier another loud crack, delightedly watching as they scrambled away in abject terror.
Nodding in satisfaction, he turned around to meet the eyes of two other prisoners that had been thrown into his cell.
He froze.
Right.
There were now aliens in his cell.
And he probably just scared the hell out of them.
Or: Humans are a dangerous race feared by all on an intergalactic scale. Techno, a human ex-soldier that was abducted by aliens 18 months ago, is biding his time in captivity.
This changes when two young aliens are sent into his cell to die.
