Summary
Instead of Alastor killing his father and growing up to be a serial killer he runs away and joins the circus. He sends money home to his mama and avoids a life of poverty. He works through the ranks to become a professional knife thrower and sideshow geek/cannibal.
Lucifer Morningstar is a widower having lost the love of his life and wife in a circus accident. He is trying to hold it together for the sake of his daughter Charlie and the circus itself.
His daughter hires a new knife thrower and suddenly life isn't so bad.

“Let me see,” Alastor demands and though there is certainly a question tucked into the twitch of Lucifer's mouth, he does not move as Alastor lets go of his wrist to reach for the laces of his shirt.
He pulls the ties free, and it feels like stripping himself rather than Lucifer. He undoes the knot at Lucifer’s collarbone, and it's as good as slipping a dagger beneath his ribs. Being seen, and being found wanting is one thing, but being found, and being seen wanting? That is the realm of helpless nightmares.

Vox deserves everything a successful man in the 1950s should have: the house in the suburbs, the white picket fence, the beautiful wife, the 2.5 (or more) kids.
Alastor, after all he's done to Vox, deserves to be that wife and give him those kids.
In short, Vox mind controls and traps Alastor in a 1950s-esque marriage, and Vox has a breeding kink.
