Summary
In front of him is one of the Favonius Knights, hands holding out an enveloped letter. He looks down at it before up again to meet the other’s eyes in silent question.
“Ah, well. We found this amongst the paperwork on Captain Varka’s desk, I figured it would be best if you look at it.”
Reaching out for the envelope, Flins turns it around and finds his name written at the bottom corner. The urge to ignite this paper in flames was strong, there’s anger surging up in him at the audacity. He calms the storm as quickly as it comes, it does no good to scare off an innocent knight.
“Thank you.”
The letter feels heavy where it sits on the inside pocket of his coat. He itches to know what’s written and wishes to never open it at the same time, feeling as complicated as the feeling that's been bubbling in him ever since he received the news. He is mad, he’s crestfallen – he’s every emotion boiled into one, he faults Varka then he faults no one … it’s weird.

Sharing a soul between siblings wasn't so strange. Twins, triplets and even quadruplets were known for holding an equal piece of their divided soul. But sextuplets? That was almost unheard of. Everyone knew that the more pieces a soul was divided into the weaker they were on their own and wouldn't last long if left by themselves.

Jyushimatsu was the second strongest so he had been okay when it was one on one, even three on one, but any more than that and he would have ended up being beaten to a pulp. His other brothers hadn’t been as strong as him or Osomatsu however, especially Karamatsu and Choromatsu, so Jyushimatsu and the rest of the brothers had soon become familiar with first aid treatment and the sight of seeing one of them bloodied and bruised became normal. But aside from the fights, Jyushimatsu felt that they all were still the same. Same six faces, same shit-eating grins, and same knack for mischief. Jyushimatsu had thought that it would always be like that.
But then they entered their first year of high school and Jyushimatsu ended up in class 1A with Karamatsu.

It was as if being around Osomatsu was a reversal spell on Karamatsu. He didn’t talk that stupid flowery speech around Osomatsu, he dressed normally when he and Osomatsu left the house to who knows where, he smiled and laughed more genuinely with Osomatsu instead of that fake deep voice he used when he tried to be cool, and he was just overall like his old self before entering high school. But only around Osomatsu. With anybody else, Karamatsu slipped back into that painful persona. And it seemed like none of the other sextuplets noticed this little detail. It seemed like only Ichimatsu noticed how different Karamatsu behaved around Osomatsu. Even after summer break had ended and they were all back in school, Karamatsu and Osomatsu were always seen together between classes, during lunch, and strangely enough, whenever Karamatsu was said to have skipped out on drama club, Osomatsu would be nowhere to be seen. It made Ichimatsu livid every time.
This morning wasn’t any different.

It was true that Osomatsu wasn’t a stranger to fights and in middle school he was notorious for picking them, but since he’s started high school, not once has he been in a fight. He’s mellowed out a bit so he didn’t go looking for them anymore, but he’s never hidden that if someone came looking to fight him he wouldn’t turn down an invitation. So if what John Doe said was true, and some delinquents from Shibusa High really did come looking for him, that meant one of his younger brothers took his place.

Anger coursing through his veins, he shot up from the floor, he put the ice pack away from his face, he put it at his sides clutching it in his hands, he bared his teeth even if he have a bleeding split lip, even when his gums would bleed due to a few teeth getting knocked out.
