He searched through every photo intently, hoping to catch even a glimpse of her. But there was nothing beyond the perfectly manicured hand, the beige fur coat, and the back of her raven-black hair with pink highlights, tied up in a ponytail, which Ilya spotted in one of the last photos.
“Who are you?” he asked, glaring at the offending hand on Hollander’s arm. “Probably nobody important.”
Or, after months of radio silence, Ilya finds out that Hollander is, allegedly, hooking up with someone else. Normally, Ilya wouldn’t give it a second thought — because it’s not important — but there’s a problem: this hookup is, apparently, a regular thing. Just like them. So, Ilya takes a bit of his time to get to the bottom of it, even though he could not care less.

“...Right.” Hollander pulled on his boxers before he dropped the towel. “Because it’s not like you don’t fuck other people too, you know.”
“I know.”
“And it’s not that you- you aren’t enough, or whatever.” Hollander turned even more red, looking down. “But, like, we don’t get to see each other that often.”
“I know.”
“And, you know, it turns out you can have a lot of anonymous sex if you’re gay. People are surprisingly okay with it.” He said it earnestly, like he was the first person in the world to make this discovery.
Ilya forced himself to swallow, keeping his face carefully blank. “Is that so?”
