Summary
Hiccup returns to a ransacked Dragon's Edge; Stray green-tipped arrows litter the beaches, there's indents on the sands from docked rowboats- most concerning of all was the silence, none of his friends in sight. The only clue is a familiar flag pinned to the wall of his hut; the flag of the Dragon Hunters. An invite to parlay.
Viggo offers him a deal- one game of Maces and Talons. If Hiccup wins, his friends go free with no further consequence. If Viggo wins, Hiccup leaves Dragons Edge and joins the Dragon Riders, joins Viggo, for good.
The board is set, the pieces sit in place- all that remains are the players.

After countless nights spent brainstorming solutions and exploring new defensive options- their relief comes in the form of an unfamiliar Terror Mail. A scroll wrapped in a familiar shade of red, with a penmanship Hiccup knew from the moment his eyes caught on the smooth lines of ink.
Viggo Grimborn offers a truce, and with it comes a moment of mutual understanding. Perhaps, a chance to exchange something more meaningful.

Charlie fucked up. She knows this, and she wishes she could take the words back- undo the hurt that had been written so plainly on her Dad's face. Maybe later, she'd allow herself to think about the way Lucifer had simply stood there and taken her vitriol. For now, Charlie will focus on making things right between them.
If only her Dad would let her apologise, rather than running at the first sign of her remorse.
(If only Lucifer wouldn't be so insistent that he deserved that kind of treatment.)
