Summary
It started as most hate fucks did with insults. Barbed words slung back and forth to see who's pride would break first.
It was liberating. Exhilarating even, with there being no consideration of each others feelings beyond what words could hurt most. What well pressed buttons could be slammed on. What new weaknesses could be discovered and exploited by verbal assault alone.
There was no one around to break them up this time. No Charlie to play peacekeeper. No pack to break up the nipping alphas circling each other. The small sitting room was barely big enough to contain their dealing egos.
Feedback squealed through the air as Alastor was suddenly tugged down into a sloppy kiss. The angle was all wrong. Their teeth knocked together. A coppery tang burst between their lips and over the cannibal's frozen tongue.
Lucifer dropped back on his heels with a smug smile. A smudge of red on his bottom lip. His eyes glittered with dark laughter. "Knew that'd shut you up."

Summary
After modern science fails Alastor's ailing mother, his underground contacts land him over 600 miles away from home in the Blue Ridge Mountains, staring down a hollow-eyed woman with a deal. If Alastor agrees to an indeterminate residency watching over an isolated stretch of the mountain, his mother will be taken care of. At the end of his options, Alastor agrees to ensure his mother's survival.
When a monster begins stalking the cabin he's been granted, Alastor realizes he didn't understand the ramifications of the pact he made...one he can no longer escape.
