For some reason, he couldn’t stop them, the tears that burned a path down his cheeks like molten lava. A part of him was missing, now. But the past was ephemeral. Once lost, it would never return again.
He pressed a hand to his face and felt it slowly stain wet with his tears. It was alright. It had all been a thousand years past. Now it was only a wispy midsummer night’s dream, to dissolve into the air with the morning dew.
