Summary
The champagne is still drying in Charles' hair when he understands, finally, that he has run out of almost.
Three years of it. Three years of not saying the thing, not reaching for the thing, not being the kind of person who does something irreversible in a paddock corridor at eleven at night. Tonight, after Suzuka, after everything that race cost him and everything it didn't, he is exactly that kind of person.
He doesn't plan it. He never does, with Max.

Summary
Getting fucked through the heat by a compatible alpha is now medical necessity. The only alpha Charles’s omega ever let near him is his secret ex husband and famous f1 ex teammate Max Verstappen.
"You don't have to look so fucking miserable about it," Charles remarks on it.
"I'm not—"
"I can see it on your face. You think I want this? You think I want to be here needing you?"
Max's expression shifts from whatever that was before to annoyance. "You never make sense, so how could I know anything?"
"Just pretend I'm someone else," Charles spits out, giving permission so Max does not have to feel guilty about it afterwards. So Charles can tell to himself, he condoned it so he can not be bothered by anything Max does. Maybe Max will say someone else's name and this way Charles will be ready.

Summary
The real problem, Charles knows, is that he still loves Max Verstappen. That he wants everything to do with Max, but nothing to do with racing. But Max and racing are inseparable. It's a dilemma, he supposes.
Or, it's 2037. Charles is retired and owns a bar, cut off from everyone and everything to do with racing. Max is a team principal, if you can believe it. They haven't seen each other in almost a decade, but that's about to change.
