Summary
He doesn’t open the package until he’s back in his own rooms. It’s wrapped in beautifully patterned cloth, something soft enough that it snags on his calluses. Whatever it is is wrapped again in persimmon leaves, which throws Sanemi a bit when he pulls one open and it’s ohagi.
There are six in all, and it’s clear that whoever wrapped this was far better at presentation than cooking. The consistency of the azuki is all wrong.
“The fuck,” Sanemi says.
Then, after a moment, “Fucking Tomioka.”
