Yen didn’t understand it then, and she wouldn’t for another sixty years.
She leaned closer to the door. “Julian,” her mother said, to the little body in her arms. “Your name is Julian.”

Summary
Geralt tries to read the man’s face before he looks around for a hidden camera. His youngest brother is supposed to be away this weekend with his boyfriend, but this entire situation reeks of Lambert’s exact sense of humor. Geralt is suddenly quite sure there’s a whipped cream pie to the face waiting at the end of wherever his neighbor is leading him with this conversation.
“You can’t just hit it with a shoe?”
That makes the man inhale sharply and press a hand to his chest, like a church matron clutching her pearls. “The spider is an animal, but I most certainly am not! I am not trying to banish the little beast from the mortal coil. I am simply trying to evict him from the previously-spiderless sanctuary of my home.”
(Jaskier tries to recruit his neighbor Geralt to handle a spider problem) (Ciri ends up taking the lead on the assignment) (this still ends up with more Geraskier than might be expected)

Jaskier is a genie that has been “freed” from his “bottle” which is bits and pieces of his lute. He isn’t truly free but enough to not actually care about being a genie. He's been traveling the world doing whatever. Upon meeting Geralt, he pretends to be a normal bard as he does with everyone but every now and then when Geralt wants something it just seems to be easier to get it. Sometimes when it’s a close call with a monster, any healing supplies are always nearby, sometimes they always have the right amount of coin, sometimes Jaskier just knows exactly what is needed for any given situation
Sometimes Jaskier and Geralt split paths and Geralt notices how his luck seems to better when his little strange bard is around.

Some people said that Jaskier’s ADHD made him shit at problem solving, but he argued that, all things considered, he wasn’t that bad. Sure, when faced with an issue, people would usually need to allocate a few minutes for Jaskier’s initial blind panic and faffing about while he tried to think of a solution that would not get him injured, arrested, jobless, crying, adopting a third pet, calling his ex, calling his mum, dead in a ditch, or all of the above. However, the ideas that came after those first few minutes, and even his lovely manager would have to agree with him on this, were actually pretty good by some standards.

For once in his life, Jaskier doesn’t know what to say. He’d always imagined a dramatic death, perhaps on a cliff side or in an ancient, magical forest. It would be a monster that did him in, or some other near-unconquerable evil, slain at his feet after he’d risked his very life killing it to save Geralt’s. And there his Witcher would be, cradling Jaskier’s delicate, beautiful body in his arms. Geralt would sob as the light left his very best friend’s eyes, swearing vengeance on whomever had dared bring him harm. Except they’d be dead, Jaskier supposes. He’ll have to workshop that part. And- and Jaskier would be dressed to the nines, naturally. An outfit to end all outfits. Continental fashion would mirror it for decades — nay, centuries.
Instead of, he’s going to die alone, stuck in a town that doesn’t appreciate his artistry and wearing nothing but an old chemise with a hole in one of the sleeves.
Oh, the horror of it all.

Summary
The bard trusted him.
That warm feeling, the one he was failing to quell, spread through him at the notion.
It was the first time a human had trusted him in such an instinctive way since Blavikan. Maybe it was the first time a human had trusted him in such an instinctive way even before that.
Geralt stopped watching after a moment. It didn’t mean anything. Jaskier would still leave, one day. This…little trip he was taking with Geralt was nothing but the passing phase of a young man yet to settle down.
Still, when Geralt fell asleep that night, the warmth had yet to dissipate, and – despite himself – he found himself making a silent promise not to betray the trust the bard had so stupidly placed in his monstrous hands.

Summary
The next day comes around and, when they come across a village at a crossroad, Jaskier books himself a night in the inn and Geralt continues North. Jaskier doesn’t ask if they’ll see one another again. He knows, deep in his bones with a certainty far beyond his years, that the answer is yes.
It is not until he is bathing that evening that he realises why the answer is yes.
He’s so used to the occasional ink splattering on his skin that needs washing off, that he doesn’t even note the words in block cursive travelling up his thigh for what they are for a good moment. Instead, he rubs absently at them with his small bar of soap, waiting for them to dissipate from his skin.
They do not.
He blinks.
Blinks again.

Emotion was power; she knew that well enough by now. If she had ever been unsure of it, ever been worried that the way of Sabrina was better, those fears had been doused by the fire she had unleashed when battling Nilfguard.
Emotion was dangerous, yes, but it was power. It gave her power.

Geralt – in his own way – gave her power due to what feelings he inspired in her. Cirilla – beautiful, wonderful, Cirilla – gave her power due to the care she felt for the child.
