    Summary

When Richie hears the bell on top of the front door ring and looks up in the middle of what’s set to be his best latte art yet, he locks eyes with a beautiful stranger who, clad in a white t-shirt with the words CAPTIVITY KILLS, FREE THE WHALES! surrounding a cartoon orca, crosses the threshold of the coffee shop. The man, who looks to be about Richie’s age, sets down a thick stack of flyers on the counter, looks Richie right in the eyes and says, “Please tell me you have oatmilk here.”

    --

Richie Tozier works at an independent coffee shop down the street from SeaWorld Orlando, where he happens to meet Eddie – a cute yet unique (and those are Stan's words, definitely not Richie's) man who is making it his mission to protest against SeaWorld in the name of orca conservation.

    Summary

When Richie looks at Eddie Kaspbrak face-to-face for the first time since his rather untimely death, the first thing Richie feels is a very brief – just for a moment, a snippet in time, probably not even noteworthy – sense of apprehension.

It’s undeniably Eddie; he’s dressed in a pair of sweatpants and a white shirt, both far much more dirty and stained than Richie knows Eddie would ever allow his clothes to be, and it hits Richie that those are the clothes he had on when he died, fuck, has it really been that long, eds? It’s Eddie, of course it’s Eddie, but-

When Eddie meets Richie’s eyes, Richie feels a chill go up the back of his neck, despite how much he doesn't want to: Eddie’s brown eyes are faded, a little milky in color. Gray around the edge of his iris’, like-

Like a corpse, Richie thinks before he can stop himself.

Eddie comes back from the dead, and Richie refuses to look a gift horse in the mouth, even if Eddie is a little...different post-resurrection.

Eddie makes another noise, not quite a scream but not anything else either.

    Stan drops his hand.

“Hey, Eddie,” he says. “Welcome to the peanut gallery. I wrote you a letter, but I guess you won’t get it now.”

(Or, Eddie and Stan stick around as ghosts after they die. Unable to make themselves known to the other Losers, they have to find other ways to communicate.)

    Beside him, someone stirs.

Eddie turns towards it, thinking of sleepovers with the Losers, of Richie knocking on his window at 10pm and crawling into Eddie’s bed when he lets him in.

His eyes adjust. It still takes a second.

“Morning, babe,” says a man, a full-grown adult man, in his fucking bed.

(Or, 14 year old Eddie gets a glimpse into what's coming.)
