Summary
The out of place sound of a camera shutter broke the silence, drawing Shouta’s attention.
He swung his head around to the other side- anything else would’ve dislodged Hizashi, which was as illegal as waking up Eri would’ve been- to see Henry with his phone. The damn thing had figured out how to operate the camera and was taking photos not only of the child, but of the two of them inextricably tangled around each other in the chair.
What a fucking traitor.
“I didn’t give you sentience so you could betray me like this.” He muttered quietly. Henry remained unrepentant, pointedly taking another photo of Shouta’s tired, displeased glare. They both knew Shouta hadn’t purposefully given Henry sentience at all, it was just a byproduct of how much time the scarf had spent about magic. The ancient sorcerer was honestly terrified of the implications that had for magic in general, although it potentially shed a bit of light on just how Alaric managed to develop quirks. “You’d tell me if you reached actual person-hood, right?”
The scarf just sat the phone back on the arm of the lazy boy and patted Shouta’s hand with one of it’s tasseled ends.

Summary
Was Nedzu far too amused by their predicament for Shouta and Hizashi’s liking? Absolutely. Was he ever going to let them forget this? Probably not. Was it worth it bringing their transformations to his attention so he could track down Hawk’s home address and Izuku for them? One. Hundred. Percent.
He even helped them break in by deactivating the winged hero’s security system, though Shouta would maintain he could’ve broken in on his own. He’d also maintain that they didn’t have any choice but to break in- Nedzu was the only one who could do proper human speech and he wasn’t making any effort to just, you know, call Hawks and explain things. It was the rat’s fault Hizashi was now quietly woofing at Izuku through the bars of his (admittedly rather cushy based on what he knew, at least Hawks was taking proper care of him) cage.
It was also the rat’s fault Shouta almost gave a promising young hero a heart attack when he jumped on the guy’s bed and glared.

“Good news- I can definitely see ghosts.” Izuku weakly explained. “Bad news- I might’ve underestimated how pissed off the ghost is.”
“You don’t say?” Katsuki couldn’t see the ghost, but he could see Izuku staring at a fixed spot as well and how the peeling wall paper started shuddering as the heavy feeling grew. “You’re the one who researched- how the fuck do we fight it?”
“I-”
The door slammed open again, blasting the ghost woman toward them. Izuku grabbed Katsuki’s arm in a tight grip, partly to make sure he stayed inside the salt circle and partly to keep himself from reeling back outside the circle himself.
Izuku hadn’t needed to know that her skin was more translucent than the bones he could see through it. Just as scary was the newest person to come to the party- a man in all black, whose equally dark hair whipped even more ferociously.
Through the ghost, Izuku saw the man’s eyes burn an even brighter, angrier red. Then he lost track of the plot what the ghost shrieked with a level of vitriol that had him doubled over in pain. When he could look up again, the ghost woman was gone.
The ghost man- now armed with a scythe- still remained.
