Summary
The extra mutagens caused a problem in Geralt and made him blind to the mundane things in the world. He exists mostly in darkness but can see monsters and magic in a way.
The story moves through two timelines - Geralt adapting to the blindness in the past, and coping with the fact that in the present he finds himself traveling with Jaskier who has never clued in that when Geralt says he is blind that he means it quite literally.

Summary
“Why do you only like some of your clothes?” Jaskier asks thoughtfully, three hours into the day.
Geralt looks to him from the corner of his eye.
“You’ll wear them all eventually,” Jaskier says in a tone that makes it clear he’s hard at work theorizing, “but you’ll wear some of them multiple times before you’ll wear the rest. They’re all black, so I know it can’t be about style.” The quick side glance he gets after that tells Geralt that Jaskier has his doubts about the existence of such a thing to begin with.
(Geralt has sensory issues with his clothes) (Of course he would never think to fix this) (Luckily Jaskier has some thoughts and feelings about it)
