He decides on a change of plans that would surely stop the Higher Being's advance, though it might create another enemy entirely. Thankfully, the Nightmare Heart's vessel is understanding of his situation, and so he accepts his deal. Now, the Pale King is again forced to commit despicable acts, even worse than the killing of the failed vessels, but there's no cost too great for the survival of his eternal Kingdom.
