Summary
There, face down on her bed, wrapped in her dark purple comforter and drooling on her memory foam pillow, is a person— a blonde haired person, in smudged lipstick and what looks like a leather jacket, from the tip of the collar Kate sees peeking out from under her blanket.
So Kate does the logical thing. She has a black belt in five different martial arts. She’s a state champion fencer, and a world champion archer. She takes one look at the potentially dangerous home intruder sleeping in her bed, and she does what any smart person would do. Duh.
She whispers, “Oh, what the fuck,” turns around, promptly collapses on the couch in the living room, and falls asleep.
OR: Kate is a grad student at NYU. All it takes is a blonde with a habit of breaking and entering to change everything.

Summary

It isn't long, however, before Kate realizes she may have bitten off more than she can chew. “Okay,” Kate cuts in, a strange reversal of their typical dynamic. “Jeez, Clint, spit it out already.”
Clint’s mouth pinches in a way that only ever happens on rare occasion, and only when he’s experiencing genuine discomfort.
“It was Yelena,” he says simply, leaving the rest unsaid.
And when it comes to Yelena, this leaves a lot unsaid.

“Yeah, unless I don’t finish my degree.” It’s a grumpy little mumble, barely meant for Yelena, but she responds to it nevertheless.
“What do you mean?“ she demands. “You only have a small amount of time left! Why would you stop now?”
“I don’t know,” Kate murmurs, and Yelena is bewildered to hear a faint echo in her own emptiness, coming from nearly six thousand kilometers away. “I just don’t really know what to do now, I guess. Clint says I’m the new Hawkeye, but that’s not official or anything. And even when it is, it’s going to be a lot of training. So I’m waiting to wait, or something, and — and I don’t know why I’m talking to you about this, actually.”
“Sometimes, it’s nice to just talk,” Yelena thinks and then says. “But I don’t think you should drop out of school, Kate Bishop. School is cool.”
