Summary
It’s as Scar pulls his hand away that Mumbo comes back into the room, causing the two of them to look at him. There’s a nervous expression on his face as he rubs at the back of his neck. His brows are pinched together with tension, lips lowered in an anxious frown. “Well, the Council certainly isn’t pleased that the metal is missing…” He cringes. The vampire had stepped out to call Doc and inform the man of their recent findings, and the loss of the metal shard.
“Is that it?” Grian questions, lifting a brow. Scar moves to sit back in his own seat, an unreadable expression briefly flickering across his face.
Mumbo purses his lips, “I’m afraid so.” He quietly sighs, tucking the wax paper with Doc’s glyph back into the pocket of his suit. “For now, there’s nothing we can do. Doc said he’d handle damage control on his side for the time being while we wait.”

Summary
Scar’s giving Grian an out. Grian knows that he should take it, that letting Scar off the hook is the right thing to do. But he looks back down at the ring, and then at Scar. He can’t bear to see the ring slip back into a pocket or a drawer. It’s something that needs to be seen, “I think we owe it to ourselves to spend these last couple of days doing something exciting.”
“That’s not a yes,” Scar says, and Grian can’t decipher his tone. “I am not marrying you unless you are one hundred percent on board. End of the world or not.”
Grian pauses. All he can think about is the observatory, isolated on the top of the mountain and so, so cold. Scar dragged him out of there, and brought him down to Boatem. Scar made Grian feel warm despite the cold wind, just by giving him something to be excited about.
The moon is close, and he really doesn’t want to spend the last of his days cold and alone.
A smile ghosts onto his lips, and a decision is made. “I’m saying yes, Scar.”
