Alex’s hands were warm on his jaw, fingers brushing up into his hair, and for a moment all Henry could do was lean into him and feel everything, want, relief, terror, dizzy happiness, crash together at once.

It's been over a month.
Alex has been thinking about Henry more often than he should. What is he doing? Does he sleep enough? Does he eat well? Does he even think about Alex? Think about them?
He has also been dreaming about Henry more often than he admits. Sometimes it was at a fancy dinner, Henry walking past him without so much of a glance, as if he didn't recognize Alex. Sometimes it was waking up to an empty bed, Henry preparing to leave, his eyes cold and expressionless as Alex begged him to stay. Sometimes it was him standing inside Kensington Palace, drenched from the rain and listening to Henry saying they'd be better off separated.
None of them was the reality. And yet, they weren't exactly untrue.

When Henry first made the decision to pursue a career in medicine and keep himself away from the crown, everyone was surprised but supportive. Henry was abdicating to become a full time doctor, everyone agreed his choice was selfless and brave.
That was until a few months later Henry was seen holding hands with some guy while walking down the streets of New York. The pictures from the paparazzi spread like gunpowder, and the headlines went from: Henry Fox-Mountchristen abandons the crown to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor and saving lives, to: Henry Fox-Mountchristen abandons the crown to pursue his dream of sucking on dick.
Alex hasn’t seen him since, so when Henry is part of the medical team at the charity lacrosse game Alex organizes… he finds that dislocating his shoulder in the middle of the field has never felt less thrilling.
