"The opposite," Derek reassured him, sitting down so he was mostly facing Stiles, but taking his hand. "He wants to make sure you know that you're one of the most important people in his life, and he loves you."

After a few too many cancellations, Stiles figures that Scott's not interested in being his friend anymore. Derek knows that's not true, and isn't going to let Stiles stay unhappy when he can do something about it. Scott's surprised by the solution Derek suggests, but willing to try.

Stiles hates the guy fiercely, and he knows it's completely mutual, and what he also knows it's completely mutual is the hate boner they both have going on for each other. What happens after they finally hookup after years of tension, though, isn't something Stiles ever signed up for.
“Shut the fuck up, Stilinski,” Derek hisses, their foreheads less than half a dozen of inches apart.
“Oh yeah, big guy?” Stiles says, stuffing his chest in defiance, licking his mouth once and then finally saying, “Make me.”

On a good day, he doesn’t have a lot of patience, and this is definitely not a good day. His patience levels are in the negatives.
They don’t reply, they just point their crossbows at him and Stiles scoffs, gripping Malia’s hand to the point where he’s sure he’s cutting off her circulation, but he can’t bring himself to let go. He doesn’t want her to go back out those doors to whatever horrors lay beyond.

For a long time after, the good days were few and far between, but eventually, Stiles didn't flinch at the word "mischief" being announced. Eventually, he could talk about her without feeling that deep ache that seemed to follow her memory.
The good days were a lot more common, bad ones rarely making an appearance. But that didn't mean they were never there.

There was no air. Just static. Just that long, solid tone and his father’s chest no longer rising.
Melissa’s hands found his face, warm and firm, grounding.
“Look at me,” she said.
His gaze flickered, just barely. Enough.
“I can’t,” he whispered, voice hoarse and thin. “I can’t.”

They hadn’t seen Stiles in three days. The others had been busy dealing with the aftermath of the alpha pack, as well as the darach, and had just assumed Stiles needed space, but Scott knew different. Sure, Stiles needed space sometimes, reality could be a bit too much, but he always, always answered his phone. They’d made a pact after his mom died, and Stiles had promised never to isolate himself again. So, it was safe to say Scott was worried.
