Summary
Persephone Iodannis was raised in a house of glass; brilliant, suffocating, and always watched. Her mind was a puzzle to be solved; her body a vessel to be measured. Now Persephone finds herself under scrutiny again-this time by HYDRA. She's been taken, relocated, tested. Again. But something is different now. The world around her is starting to bend. The Winter Soldier was silent, quiet, deadly. He did not speak unless he was told, he did not breath until they told him to breathe. The Soldier lived for HYDRA and would die for HYDRA. Perhaps that's why they placed him here, to guard the one they called "Persephone". They told him she was highly volatile, dangerous, a serial murderer. But she spoke to him like he was human. That was their first mistake- putting him here.

Summary
Project Siren was initiated in 1948 by Department X. The brightest minds of the Red Room and HYDRA were forced to collaborate and create the next best thing since the Winter Soldier. Better than any Black Widow could ever be. Project Siren remained operational until 2016.
The Siren trained the Black Widow to be ruthless. She fought alongside the Winter Soldier in every operational theater imaginable. Killed enough men, women, and children over the decades to be classified as a serial murderer. Helped to mold her own children into weapons.
Yekaterina Kotova protected Natalia Romanova the only way she knew how. Katya loved James Barnes through shared cigarettes and quiet conversations in English. Kotova gave her daughter freedom after a life of pain. She started killing to protect the ones she loved instead of killing for the job.
The Chair was supposed to kill Katya. The trigger words were supposed to force her into submission. The brainwashing was supposed to make her loyal.
After finding freedom at the hand of Yelena, Katya wants peace of mind in the form of revenge and self-imposed isolation.
The Siren never died with the project. She only stopped taking orders.

2015. One year since HYDRA fell. One year the Winter Soldier has spent on the run since D.C., tearing Europe apart trying to learn exactly who and what he is. One year of Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff and Sam Wilson trying desperately to find him. One year since Steve learned a secret in his search that could tear the Avengers apart, and one that is tearing himself apart to keep from Tony Stark.
One year of her hunting her final target. One year since she'd been issued her last-known orders — Eliminate the Winter Soldier. Even if there were no handlers for her to report to, or even a left HYDRA to serve, she still obeyed. What else could she do, but obey?
(MCU AU/Retelling, divergence set one year after CA:TWS. Bucky x Fem. OC because of course it is, I'm only human after all, but the entire MCU storyline as a whole is altered significantly as well with my own changes to the overall storyline of Phases 2 through 4. Has very soft fix-it fic energy in places. Fic is now complete!)
