Summary
Gabriel let out an ugly bark of laughter and abruptly looked away, his hand rubbing against the front of his helm.
“Machine,” he said in wry, twisted amusement, “you are far more likely to grow a soul. When a day comes that an object such as yourself possesses such a thing, will be the day an angel can live without Father’s light.”
V1 knew a challenge when it heard one. It also knew it excelled at winning them.

In Gabriel's final hours, he and V1 make a bet.

Summary
When Ethan was fourteen, his world went up in flames. When he was fourteen, he took his mother's gun and escaped the city with a wagon of other survivors who knew better than to betray their names or faces to the smiling people in uniforms who claimed to be aid workers. He learned early that help is not always help, and that people are rarely who they claim to be, or even who they think they are.
He learned early not to let anyone else decide for him the difference between monsters willing and monsters made.
(Or, Ethan Winters, instinctive parent, Raccoon City survivor, and That Guy who the Gods just cannot seem to let die, does not kill the severely abused, mentally ill child bioweapon he finds in Louisiana. Instead, he takes her, and runs. To say this changes things is an understatement.) -

Summary
When New Peace is declared the machines are chased into Hell by humanity, somehow settling in comfortably alongside the sinners and carving out their own niche there. Meanwhile, King Minos succeeds in his renaissance of Lust, and two machines, V1 and V2, end up running a bar called 'Nuts 'n Bolts' for machines and sinners alike.
...and one archangel who is really bad at going incognito.
or;
The Bartender V1 AU where everyone is still in Hell and the occasional attempted murder still happens, but there's alcohol and Mindflayer strippers, so clearly we're in the good timeline, right?

Summary
After a year spent living aboard the Bebop, Julia departs without taking her ghost and the past refuses to stay in the past, where it’d be most convenient for Faye’s new relationship with Spike.
Or: If humoring Spike and Faye’s antics was a testament of zen in the days when they hated each other, it becomes grounds for karmic enlightenment now that they're sleeping together.
Part Two of the Songs About (Julia) Anthology; can be read independently.
