Someone shoulders Cazador aside. ‘Hello, dearest! So sorry I’m late.’ The stranger slides into the booth seat next to him. With his back turned to Cazador, he gives Astarion a meaningful wink. 'You were right, I should have got the bus. Far too much traffic about at this time of night...'
It takes Astarion a moment to catch on, but he is a lawyer. Thinking on his feet is second nature. ‘That’s quite alright, love.’ He places his hand over the stranger’s, glaring at his ex. ‘You didn’t miss anything.’
It’s a rare thing to see Cazador lost for words. This complete stranger has placed himself between them like the world’s bravest sandwich filling and is gazing at Astarion so fondly that he almost believes he does have a boyfriend.
