The sound of your shotgun pumping stopped them dead in their tracks. The shorter of the pair put his hands up in surrender. He took a step forward in your direction.
“That’s close enough!” You muttered. “You’re trespassing on private property! You’ve got ten seconds to turn back around and go where you came-”
“We don’t mean harm.” Said the shorter Scottish man. “We were sent this address.” He called. “My name is John MacTavish! I am a sergeant with the military secret service.”
You took an uneasy step toward them.
“This is Lieutenant Simon Riley. We were sent here by Lieutenant General Shepherd.”
You weren’t ready for this. You felt reluctant to let these two men come any closer to your house. You clenched the butt of the shotgun in your hand tightly, with an exasperated and quiet, “Fuck.”
