Summary
Clarke can feel, and is seemingly helpless to stop the tears that stream down her face at this point, scrubbing her face with her palms as she sits, drowning in her never-ending cocoon of despair that seems to follow her like a lonely child.
A sigh whooshes through the air, so close to Clarke’s ear that she startles suddenly, her heart thrumming like a captive bird in her ribcage.
“Kneel.”
The command splits the silence as Clarke’s head jerks up from its lowered position, her eyes darting around as she tries to ascertain exactly where Lexa’s calm, powerful voice floated from.
“I- what?” Clarke asks, eyes darting around as one hand comes up to rest uncertainly on her collarbone, pulse fluttering behind a suddenly sweaty palm.
“Kneel. Just….kneel.” Lexa’s voice sounds resigned, firm.
