Summary
Yes, there were many failings in their upbringing of the Force's son, and Mace would not see those mistakes repeated. It would be his very first step in undoing the web Palpatine had spun over the galaxy: robbing him of his future apprentice before the Sith even knew it was an option.
Anakin Skywalker would be brought up right, under his tutelage, instead of by a grieving, freshly knighted Kenobi who was in no position to fill the role they so cruelly foisted upon him in the wake of his Master's death. He would personally give him the proper upbringing he deserved.
Of course, what Mace Windu didn't know was that over half the people in the room were thinking the same thing.
Or, every Jedi Master who could have possibly known Anakin turned into Vader time traveled to right before Anakin's test in Phantom Menace and fight to become his master, each thinking they are the only one who can avert galactic destruction.

Summary
Stephane was not expecting the evening to go this way when he decided to visit his sons in Truham. But there was tension at the dinner table that he didn’t quite understand, not to mention an additional four people he’d not been expecting, three of whom he’d never even met.
When his son, Nick, disappeared upstairs with his friend to calm down, Stephane took the time to leave, too. He was not expecting what he witnessed. He very quickly was realizing he may not know his son at all.
