TL;DR: NOMORI Sunny (aka like. the recital went well and nothing bad happened) enters Runaway OMARI AU
Sunny, celebrating his 16th birthday, decides to rest by himself at the hangout spot after Mari finally let them go back 2 years ago. The only difference is that for some reason the statue he almost died on that one day was glowing yellow. And had this weird spectral bridge on it.
Curiosity brings the cat to cross the bridge, and he finds his feet back on wooden planks. Might have imagined that, then. After deciding to go home, Sunny decides to cook some steak by himself.
It only takes until he’s halfway done eating it for everyone else at home to lunge at him in an embrace, acting like they were at his funeral.
…They’re not wrong, per se. Especially because Sunny’s brain will be needing one by the time everyone stops sobbing-hugging him and they explain that he was gone for four years, and not like three minutes.

Summary
After months of practice, Sunny couldn’t take it anymore - he broke his violin, got scolded by Mari, and he thought he accidentally killed her by shoving her down the stairs.
Except, Mari was still alive, he almost did kill her in a staged suicide.
Mari has been feeling unnerved since the incident, and it eventually turns into anger. Sunny is unknowingly feeding into that.
Eventually, Mari finally snaps and she violently lashes out at him, but quickly feels regretful about it, and to cover up the outburst, she keeps on deliberately abusing Sunny in order for him to stay silent, which overtime ramps up mentally and physically, she also covers up what she’s doing to him. Eventually, after years the abuse happens purely because Sunny has been broken, literally, the only thing he wants is more pieces of him flaking off. Mari gains a sense of power over what she has accomplished; and she loves it. -

After Basil’s death, Sunny runs towards his home in an attempt to end it all, but Aubrey follows him and she prevents him from dying. Sunny tells her the truth and now they have to face it together.
After moving, they find themselves camping until something happens and now the two will travel together in order to escape the Underground filled with creatures that were only believable to see in fantasy books.Notes:
the Undertale tags are there because I want to make an Omori x Undertale fanfic, but there won't be anything related to Undertale during the first two chapters except for some references to Mt. Ebott and its legend, but around Chapter 3 or 4 onward, the Journey through the underground will begin!
