Summary
Arthur, recently Crowned Prince of England, sets out on a trip with his friends to the shores of Albion to complete a family tradition called ‘The Pledge’. What he doesn’t expect is to accidentally awaken Magic from a centuries long sleep. Oh, and Magic itself would like to be called Merlin.
And so magical chaos soon follows all while Arthur deals with the realization he is a cat person, might not be entirely human, and isn’t as straight as he thought.

Summary
Loneliness is an insidious thing. When Merlin looks at Arthur, he sees not just a prince waiting for his time to rule, but a young man struggling to find his place in the world, with little help from anyone else.
The truth is, Arthur needs more than the friendship Merlin can offer. He needs people he can trust: men and women who will become his court and his confidants, and if he is going to survive to take the throne and lead Camelot into its golden age, he needs them sooner rather than later.

Summary

Summary
As a child, Arthur didn’t know why he was kept away from the courtyard.
Or why it so often smelt… like that.
Until one morning, Sir Kay guided him to the balcony he’d only been allowed on sometimes. Only sometimes, because it looks over the courtyard.
His father was waiting for him, holding an arm out to beckon him closer. Arthur rushed in, latching himself onto his father’s side as it was so rarely permitted.
There was a crowd below him; he had never seen so many people in one place.
There was a pile of wood.
He remembers little outside of the way his eyes burned, how he at last understood that smell. He remembers forcing down his supper that night and emptying his stomach in the corridor before he could even reach his room.
Now he remembers it all.
He can’t feel the bruising stones under his knees, hardly tastes the leftover bile coating his mouth.
All he knows is the all-consuming realization that his greatest fear and anguish still holds the throne, even in his heart.
