    It’s been 3 months since what’s been dubbed as the ‘Musutafu Horror’ appeared, killing 13 people and injuring many others. But the creature responsible still hasn’t been found.

    The forest that sprouted with its sudden appearance remains in what was once a small neighborhood park. There have been talks about removing the excess plant matter to restore the park, but locals who believe it may have been a nature spirit are arguing against these plans. They fear that destroying the creature’s forest will cause it to return.

    Currently, the forest in the park’s previous location, now known as the ‘Kaiju’s Forest,’ has been sectioned off by the police. People are discouraged from entering this forest since little is known about the plants and their unnatural growth. There is also concern that the monster is still inside, hidden from prior search attempts.

    Desperate yowling cut through the night, accompanied by infrequent clanging. Shouta paused on the rooftop he had been running across and tried to determine the direction of the sound. Most likely a stray cat or some other animal. Shouta liked cats, and to a lesser extent all animals, so he wasn’t about to just leave it struggling. The poor thing could be hurt.

    Soon enough, he tracked the commotion to a street that was starkly unpopulated at this time of night. The noise originated from some vending machines next to a bus stop, lit up by the soft glow of a streetlight. Shouta raised an eyebrow at the small rear end sticking out of the little door that the snacks dropped down into. Was that… a toddler? Out here? At this hour?

    In theory, everyone on earth is supposed to have a soulmate. Someone who is perfect for them in every way. A storybook romance, or a best friend you can always confide in. Fate is supposed to pull them together at the right moment. Real life is never as easy as the stories though, and Fate has always had a way of fucking with vigilantes.

    Danny always wanted a soulmate. At least he did before he died, now his life (afterlife?) is just starting to get manageable. He’s settled into his new role, doing what he can for both the ghost and human world and is looking forward to a quiet (if excruciatingly boring) summer vacation when his life is literally turned upside down and he is forced to confront parts of his past that he’d rather remained buried.

    Damian has been resigned to the idea that he will have to protect his soulmate since he was a child. A soulmate is a weakness that others might choose to exploit. Nothing could have prepared him for the reality that is his perfect match. Perhaps he should have listened when his mother said his soulmate would have to be anything besides ordinary to compliment him.
