Summary

In the midst of Chaos, Cole sees one of the tentacles sweep at Varric, and in his despair to push his friend away, Cole gets caught.
Now with a worm in his head making people's toughts louder than they should be, and stranded in a strange place with even stranger people, Cole must find a cure before he is able to go back. Can he even go back?

Summary
Magic is not a dog, eager to heel at your side and do your bidding. Magic is a wolf; wild and unpredictable, every spell cast is an exchange between the mage and a wild creature. You can only direct Magic, bottleneck it or flood it, but never ‘control’ it. That is the biggest misconception with mages. Those with great skill are either lucky, or know when to cut off their magical supply so as not to drown in the abyss.
When a little pawn makes it to the other side of the board, she becomes the Inquisitor. When a Rook unexpectedly takes the board, three elven gods move to intercept her.
What if Emmrich Volkarin was there from the beginning? He saw a promising young necromancer rise to the honored rank of Inquisitor, only for him to come crashing into another gifted mage fifteen years later. The world a little darker, a little colder, and their enemies hauntingly the same.
