Summary
“Hey, you’ve reached Clark Kent. Leave me a message and I’ll talk to you soon.”
A thick lump threatened to swell in Lex’s throat and he swallowed it down.
“You wouldn’t believe this, Clark,” he said, beginning a circuit around the terrace garden, “Even if you were here to see it. For as long as my father has been dead, it's never stopped him from meddling in my life.”
The next words were hard to say out loud, even to someone who wasn’t listening.
“We have a child. A son, to be exact. Your DNA combined with mine.”

Summary
“Are you the Jedi?” the Mandalorian asked, his helmet tilting in assessment. Mandalore’s sun glinted brightly off the beskar, making the armor almost glow. Luke was surprised to realize how well that image complemented the man’s muted Force signature.
“Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight,” Luke bowed, remembering his manners, “On behalf of the Council, we were honored to receive your invitation.”

“If you want me to make my own choices, then I choose to go with you, sir. You know I’ve always got your six,” Cody said, keeping his desperation out of his words as best as he could. “Let me help, sir.”
“Cody,” Obi-Wan’s voice was weak, breaking over the name. His blue eyes trailed down to Luke and then back up to Cody’s face. Cody’s arms tightened around the small bundle he held. Force, he was getting in too deep too fast, just like everything else related to his General.

Summary
“Married and you don’t even know his name,” Owen growled as Luke stepped back out into the hallway, ruined poncho in hand. Beru grimaced as she looked between them. She more often than not was the mediator of their fights.
“There wasn’t a lot of time for discussion,” Luke grumbled and leaned back against his door. He’d saved a man’s life and Uncle Owen still wasn’t happy with him.
“Just like his kriffing father!” Owen let out a heavy groan, running a hand over his face, “Bringing home strange people and inviting all kinds of trouble.”
“Owen, calm-” Beru started, but her husband barreled on.
“And a Mandalorian, no less!”
“Is that what he is?” Luke perked up, garnering long sighs from both Beru and Owen.

“Ye wear that thing all the time, Ghost?” Soap asked, his bright blue eyes catching the glint of the light like the necklace did. His gaze lingered on where the chain was wound through Ghost’s fingers.
“I’ve never seen him without it,” Gaz said between them. Price gave a nod from the other side of Soap. They were all seated in a row at the bar, the golden glow of the lights casting everything in a warm haze.
“Funny, didn’t think ye were Catholic,” Soap licked his lips like he was nervous. His eyes still hadn’t left the small outline of Saint George.

Summary
For nearly a decade, Rock Lee and Gaara have written each other, like clockwork. Their friendship grew steadily over many years, and at some point, without realizing it Rock Lee had fallen completely and irrevocably in love with Gaara.
But when he realizes this, advice from his mentor gives him little hope of ever being able to confess.
And so he does the only thing he can think to do: he writes it all down in a letter he never intends to send.

Summary
“B-but Gaara,” he whispered, his blown pupils black and depthless under those long, long lashes, “you do not like to be touched.”
There was silence, for a long moment, punctuated only by the muted splash of frigid water on Lee’s scarred, too-warm skin. Gaara went to war with himself. Gaara wanted him. Gaara had hurt him.
But Lee needed him.

Summary
“I came to you for taijutsu advice. Not to be propositioned.”
“Propositioned?”
Lee can be a bit much at times. He knows this. He's known this his whole life. But when his excess of personality leads to rejection (by someone he wasn't even trying to court, no less!), he's left feeling a little shattered. Luckily for him, Gaara is there to pick up the pieces.

Summary
“Inta ktkoot.”
Shijima froze as if she’d been caught in her own defective sharingan. Surely she’d misheard. She’d never known the Kazekage to use an endearment, much less to call someone adorable.
Or, five times Rock Lee utterly misunderstood the Kazekage, and one time they understood each other perfectly.
