Strange, considering the massive Wolf in Hannibal’s yard.-
Hannibal knows it’s a wolf, but he’s never seen one this large. Its entirety, even laying down and crumpled as it is, is still twice the size of Hannibal. He swallows, thick. It’s not well, he can see it, can practically smell it in the air, the sickness and the decay hanging from the animal. He feels for his pocket, feels the handle of his pocket knife nestled there. It’s not his first choice, but it’s sharp- it would do what he needed it to do.

Summary
Dean's escaped from Purgatory and ready to get back to normal. He just wants to find his brother and travel the country together, killing monsters and occasionally stopping apocalypses. Life can be perfect again, especially since Sam's newfound coping mechanism of avoiding stressful situations (like Dean yelling at him) jibes perfectly with his own long-standing method of ignoring everything he can't deal with (like Sam not looking for him) until the occasional whiskey-fueled violent outburst.
But Crowley's organized all of hell after them, and he's not giving up. They're fighting demons one day and angels the next, and frankly, Dean's tired of not knowing what the hell's going on. Former allies-and friends-are turning on them. Crowley claims Sam stole something from him, and when Castiel shows up, he tries to put a blade through Sam's chest, screaming 'abomination' the whole time.
What the hell happened happened while he was in Purgatory?
Season 8 AU. Spoilers through S13.
