Warily, he opened the door.
Standing on the step was Inspector Barnes. Lockwood has seen Barnes in many fashions over the years - stern when he’d investigated the rug Carver died on, disappointed and angry when he’d accidentally burned down Mrs. Hope’s house, frantic when he’d arrived at Combe Carey Hall, but never had he seen the old inspector look so defeated. He looked even more grim than usual, his bulky mustache seemed to droop like a sad caterpillar.
“Ah, Mr. Lockwood, I’m afraid I come bearing bad news...terrible business, terrible…,” he drifted off, looking even more depressed. “May I come in? This is news best taken sitting down, I think.”

Summary
Ophelia Carter is both an aspiring artist (ignoring the fact that most of her commissions are to paint overweight pets) and a cleaner for the rich and the powerful. It is through this that she meets one Mycroft Holmes, who has a ‘minor role in the British Government’, of which Ophelia thinks is bullshit. The thing is, Ophelia kind of gets the impression that beyond the icy exterior, he is only slightly possessive, rude and terrifying.
Also, she has a sneaking suspicion that she should not find him as amusing as she does. People are starting to think she’s mad.
A trail of murders from the last two years lead, eventually, to Ophelia, and thank God for the fact she cleans Mister British Government's house, otherwise she would be so screwed.

John’s demeanor was getting more questionable by the minute. Perhaps the advanced background checks were not enough. Had John’s records been altered? Who exactly was living with his younger brother? He’d relied on his associates to check into John Watson, and he believed them to have done a thorough job. Perhaps not thorough enough. He needed to get back to the office. Perhaps he needed to have John detained. John concerned him, and his instincts were so rarely wrong.

Summary
John returns home from Afghanistan to find himself in a difficult situation. It's not easy being an omega without a mate in Victorian England. However, a chance meeting puts him in contact with one Sherlock Holmes and leads to something even more unexpected. Arani screamed, and threw the cup of water at the shadow. There was a laugh, soft and deadly, as she dove for the dagger stashed under the pillow.
“Oh, my, that's no way to treat a guest.”
Arani threw the dagger at where his head had been, heard it thunk into the wall, but the man was already on top of her. She gasped, or whimpered, as he clasped both of her wrists in front of her.
“Please, I'm here to offer you a proposal,” the man's face was hidden in shadow beneath a hood, but she could still see the lower corner of his mouth curl into a smile. “I really do not wish to kill you, but if you attack me again I will not hesitate to spill your blood.”

Arani nodded and rocked her hips slowly into his hand so his palm ground into her clit. He ignored her.
“That can only happen if you continue to impress the Black Hand, and the rest of this sanctuary. Do you understand?”
