Summary
Buck liked the guitar, liked the quiet moments where he would strum and pluck and pick, his brain focused on the movements and progressions. It was something he did for himself, in moments where he needed to feel centred, grounded.
Connected.
It wasn’t a secret, necessarily, it just wasn’t something that he brought up in casual conversation. He was sure he had left the case out a time or two while others were around, though no one commented.

Summary
Buck greeted people with a peck to the cheek or to the temple, and would say goodbye in the same way. He would give exaggerated kisses to Ravi and Chim, mostly to annoy them, but would get a pleased little smile afterwards. He’d kiss Chris’s forehead before bed, and while the teenager would complain loudly, Eddie saw the fondness there too.
For weeks, the 118 and their families were the recipients of Buck’s kisses, his affection easy and open. And Eddie would watch, at first with a dopey smile at his best friend being his ridiculous, loveable self. Buck looked so happy and free like that; how could Eddie not feel sappy about it.

“Uncle Buck can’t talk, princess. He lost his voice.”
Her eyes widened, and she looked at Buck with seriousness. “Are you like the lil mermaid? Did someone take it?”
Buck looked at Chim for clarification, but was getting none. Instead, Jee took off running to her room and came back after a minute or two, tablet in her hand. She made herself comfortable in Buck’s lap and found the cartoon version of The Little Mermaid.
“I’ll show you.” Her smile was infectious, and Buck willingly and gladly would take this bonding time with his niece.

Eddie is everywhere.
He’s in the kitchen when Buck finally drags himself out of bed, usually digging through the fridge in search of something to eat. When Buck gets out of the shower, Eddie is sitting on the couch scrolling through Netflix. In the afternoon, Chris is with him. They do homework at Buck’s dining table, eat dinner together almost every night, and more often than not, Chris and Eddie will take the guest room before Buck can even offer.
It’s strange.
A few months ago, Buck would have loved the attention.
Now, it’s almost suffocating.

Buck would laugh, maybe duck his head in that shy way he got when Eddie hit the exact right note of earnest and flirtation.
Then Eddie would kiss him.

Summary
Something between them is changing, Eddie realizes. Maybe they won’t be able to talk about it for a while, especially now. They both need to heal. But in the light of all this, it doesn’t seem to matter so much.
What might have scared Eddie a week ago, a few days ago, feels wildly insignificant now. If anything, the inevitability is a sudden, silverlined comfort.

Eddie hasn't been asked back to host the live streams since he said fuck a record number of times during the first one he hosted. Said record is not an exaggeration, Athena had even had a little certificate printed for him. It also matched the other piece of paper that had been printed, which stated "Banned from live stream hosting: Eddie." Banned from hosting or not, Eddie is still a frequent guest on the live streams this season. Mainly because Ravi and May want to ruin his life.
Or: When EMT Buck joins the Dancing with the Stars crew Eddie is smitten and May is determined to meddle.
