A little while ago, I had to continue this short story for a school assignment. Though, imagine my surprise when I found out that Ao3 had a tag for this short story. I really had NO idea. It was a nice surprise though. Anyways, I had to continue this story with the hopes of having irony somewhere, and I think one other thing--but I can't remember what. (This takes place after they're pinned under the tree in the original--if I remember correctly)
Here's my attempt:

If asked, he never thought he'd be out in the woods in the middle of the night with a man he just met; and most certainly it's not under good circumstances like he would have hoped; but alas, it's not meant to be. His nose is dripping steadily, and his hands are freezing, along with everything else--even though he has some form of protection from the elements. He'd rather be at home, but as of now, that'd be wishful thinking with this man staring down at him, while he lays cold on the hardened dirt and snow.
