    Summary

“I’m so sorry,” he says again. “But I…ah. Think I am going to throw up.”

    Jayce scrambles back instinctively. “What-”

He makes a strangled sound, his gag reflex taking over, and Jayce lunges for…things. Trash can, hoodie. His own cupped hands, apparently.

But before he can even find the side of the bed, Viktor politely gathers the duvet out of the way, folds in half, and vomits all over it anyway.

There's a stretch of profound silence. Then Jayce says, very intelligently: “Okay.”

Or: Jayce assumes the most complicated part about hooking up with Viktor will be the morning after. He’s right but also so, so wrong.

    Friday, September 17th, 1999

    BREAKING NEWS

THE GOLDEN KILLER KEEPS GRINDING PILTOVER'S HIGH SOCIETY THROUGH HIS MACHINERY OF MURDER

There's a serial killer on the loose in Piltover, who only targets the famous elite. And while the spoiled rich fear for their lives, the police are absolutely clueless. Only the lonely crime scene photographer Jayce Talis at the Piltover Chronicle seems to be able to crack the killer's ominous ciphers, drawing more attention than he bargained for.

It’s not as though Viktor doesn’t eat.

Jayce has run through the proof he’s collected many times to assure himself that this is a fact based on evidence and reason— that Vikor does eat— despite Jayce rarely actually seeing him do so. Viktor just has… poor habits. Worrying habits.

Or: Jayce worries about Viktor and does what any normal, good lab partner would do, and dedicates a totally normal and not absurd amount of time and effort to cook for him.

“Are you gonna blurt it out again?” Jinx asked.

"No,” Viktor said, folding the paper neatly and tucking it into his shirt pocket.

“Good. Also, I know you didn’t get Talis.”

“I don’t see how you could possibly tell.”

“You didn’t get that goofy look on your face,” Jinx teased.

    Viktor glared at her.

    ********
“Who’d you get?” Jayce asked by way of greeting.

“Mel. Could be worse,” Caitlyn said. “You?”

    “Vander,” he said, crestfallen.

“Hm. You were hoping for Viktor.”

Jayce nodded even though it was not a question.

“You already got him some sentimental, perfect gift.”

    Another nod to another non-question.

Viktor and Jayce crash out just a little as they try to get each other for the office secret gift exchange.
