Alfa Lan Wangji aveva scalato velocemente i ranghi della famiglia criminale Lan per diventarne la più giovane risorsa, sorpassando persino suo fratello. Aveva la fama di essere freddo ed esternamente inflessibile. Non commetteva errori e non perdonava chi lo faceva. Wei Wuxian stava aspettando l'occasione per beccare Wen Chao fuori dalla residenza principale dei Wen, la Nightless City. Ebbe la fortuna di scoprire un club esclusivo frequentato dall'uomo, fuori dal territorio Wen. L'unico problema era che il locale fosse gestito da HanGuang-jun, su cui girava voce che fosse la risorsa migliore della famiglia criminale Lan, oltre la difficoltà ad accedervi. Le sole persone a cui era garantito l'ingresso erano VIPs (e Wei Wuxian, decisamente, non lo era), o qualunque omega HanGuang-jun stesse scopando quel mese. Corrispondendo più o meno al suo tipo, Wei WuXian decise di fingersi la sua conquista più recente, in una notte in cui il boss criminale sarebbe stato fuori città e non avrebbe potuto verificarne l'identità.
Sfortunatamente, le loro informazioni erano sbagliate. HanGuang-jun non era fuori città.
