Summary
“How did you do it? When it was Maddie?”
“Which time? When Dispatch was held hostage or when Amber kidnapped her?”
“Either? Both. I was just… so sure that I wouldn’t find him, or I’d be too late. Just to realize I wasn’t even looking for the right people.”
Or: Eddie and Chim have a conversation about their respective Buckley getting kidnapped, which includes the feelings when they were found. It leads to some retrospection and a realization.

Summary
“Buck!” Buck’s name exploded from Eddie’s lips like a shot. He elbowed the sheriff off him and limped forward like he wanted to break out into a run.
Buck’s stomach dropped to his feet as he watched the sheriff snarl at Eddie’s back before his face dropped into shock. He drew his gun back out of his holster and Buck wheezed in a breath to call out a warning that got trapped somewhere in his throat.
“Torres!” The sheriff snapped.
A grunt of pain rained down on Buck like pieces of rubble on his too raw skin before the sound of a body hit dirt and a unforgiving arm wrapped around his windpipe.
Okay but what if Earl ended up using Buck as a human shield during the final showdown?

Summary
He stands up, because Eddie does not cower from knocks at — he checks his phone — 10:52 PM, even though every true crime podcast his abuela forwards him suggests this is exactly how people end up as a Dateline episode.
He looks through the peephole.
He blinks.
He looks again.
There is a man on his porch. Which, fine, he expected a man. What he did not expect is for the man to be — and Eddie needs a second here, because he’s processing several things simultaneously and doing a poor job with all of them — approximately six foot two, broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted, visibly muscular in a way that suggests either a dedicated gym routine or a genetic lottery win or both, and completely, entirely, spectacularly naked.
Except for the potted succulent he's holding in front of his crotch.
Eddie's succulent. From Eddie's porch. The one Chris named Potricia.
Or,
The odds of the universe dropping a naked man on your doorstep are low, but never zero.Bookmarked by Hiva7266

Summary
“The passenger,” Eddie rasped, his voice cracking. “Evan Buckley. Where is he?”
Dr. Harrison smelled like industry grade blocker when he stepped closer, checking the readout on the monitor. He didn’t look Eddie in the eye. “Mr. Diaz, you’re in Nashville General. We’ve processed the intake from the scene. The Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle rollover—your truck. You were the only occupant recovered from the wreckage.”
“No,” Eddie hissed, the word tearing at his throat. The heart monitor began to spike, a frantic tweet-tweet-tweet echoing his rising pulse.
On their way home from Nashville, Buck went missing.
