I always wondered why Severus went to Dumbledore with his admission of guilt and request to save Lily. There were plenty of other ways and people he could have given the information to without committing himself to a miserable life trying desperately to receive redemption and forgiveness from people he didn't like. Perhaps she herself fell victim to assumptions and misconceptions and their power to color one's own perspective in the wrong shade.
Perhaps in her attempt to guide the next generation of wizards onto a better path, she had misjudged who needed her helping hand the most.Or perhaps she should've just taken the damn letter.
