Instead, what ends up happening is he becomes acquainted with a stranger who might be even more mysterious than his own dragon. Who, somehow, is able to convince Hiccup that yes, getting personally acquainted while men hunt you down is a great idea.
Hiccup would usually beg to differ. Vehemently, in fact. Unfortunately for his sense of rationality, his attraction to the man abandons any sort of rational thought and instead melts at impish grins and a promise to a good time.

So here’s the thing.
As much as everyone else seems to be under the impression that Liam is completely ignorant that Theo is his anchor, and as much as he himself tries to ignore, deny, or explain his own feelings away; Liam is entirely aware of the situation.
Painfully aware of the situation.
So aware of the situation in fact, that it’s all he can do to stop himself from following Theo around like a kicked dog. (Really it was good that Theo had opted to get his GED rather than return to school, otherwise Liam was afraid he really would just end up following Theo around all day.)
And while the weaponized incompetence act had kept most of the pack (pointed looks from Mason aside) from getting on his case, sooner or later someone was going to call his bluff.
Which was a conversation he is not ready to have.
At all.
