“I’m not getting married” He says, plain and soft.
Naruto’s eyes narrow, his voice getting the edge of self-righteousness that always makes Sasuke want to give up the ghost before he’s forced to.
“Then - then what’s the point, Sasuke?” He snaps.
He’s unsure if Naruto wants an answer. He doesn’t have one. There isn’t a point to any of it. What is meant to do with the rest of his life. Settle? Become a jounin? His stomach turns at the thought. A rejection of the only part of himself Naruto allowed him to keep.
Naruto’s eyes harden, as though this is some scheme of Sasuke’s. The same look in his eyes as when he threatened to end the world, given to him in a kitchen after a baby shower while he’s holding a fucking comically oversized lollipop pacifer, wrapped in a bowtie.
“I mean you love her right?” Naruto sneers.
His shoulders set, it sounds like an accusation and it hurts because he’s right.
He doesn’t.

Sakura hasn’t seen Naruto in months when she greets him at Konoha’s gate. He waves goodbye to the Suna jonin escorting him and turns to Sakura with a blinding smile. He has changed, became a little softer, his hair longer. Like this, he is the Yondaime’s son. Though much more subdued, he still wears his trademark orange, likely the consequence of the anbu missions Kakashi gave him.
Yet none of these changes explain the swing Naruto carries comfortably, as if he’s done it a hundred times before, or the child sleeping soundly in it.
Or, after the war, Naruto returns to Konoha with a child.
