Summary
Dennis Whitaker is a newly MS2, juggling his classes, part time jobs and being unhoused, while narrowly trying to escape burnout.
One day, he spills his coffee all over another man while trying to get a book from the library. Mortified by the experience he can only find comfort in the fact he will never see this stranger ever again. That is until that man appears in class as a guest lecturer a couple days later.Michael Robinavitch is taking some time off, over the anniversary of his mentor's death. Feeling too cooped up inside his own home he decides to get in touch with some old friends at the University of Pittsburgh. He is invited as a guest lecturer when when he runs into a particular man who catches his attention.
After their encounter at the library, the two men keep running into each other. Seemingly tied by an invisible magnetic force.
Or; After embarrassing himself in front of a hot older man, Dennis keeps running in to him. The med student tries his best to hide the fact that he's homeless, but the closer he gets to Michael Robinavich, the more difficult it becomes to keep up his facade.

Summary
The defining truth of his life is, people leave.
He was a naive boy who wanted to believe in something larger than him, so every fucked up thing that happened to him meant something. So that every person who left, walked away, had some higher purpose elsewhere.
He knows now, the reality. That he's just easy to walk away from. That people don't stay for him.

Summary
Dennis Whitaker has hated storms for as long as he can remember. From under a pile of rubble with a long shard of 2x4 piercing through his side, he thinks about the massive “I told you so” he’s going to say to his therapist if he somehow lives through the night.
or:
Dennis is injured in the field while facing one of his worst fears, and Robby has to deal with the reality that he has feelings for Dennis, that Dennis might not recover, and that it's his fault that Dennis was in the field in the first place.

Summary
After Robby invites Dennis to stay at his house while he's on sabbatical, Dennis wonders what he meant when he said 'if I don't come back'. He brings it up to Dr. Abbot, who is immediately concerned.
Cue Whitaker going home with Robby, tasked with the mission to keep him there until Abbot is able to come to the rescue.
Things… escalate.

Summary
Whitaker was used to getting beaten up. Having three older brothers, growing up in the countryside, helping his family run a farm - it all came with the area.
It was fine. Really. He could take a punch. He knew how to tape himself back up, lick his wounds, and move on. Being hurt, to Dennis, was just a part of life.
Dr. Robby doesn't agree.
