Kon glances up, fingers pinches against the thin paper of the novel in his lap.
“What is?”
Tim makes a distressed noise in the back of his throat, “Me.”
Kon flips the page. “Is that so?” He says doubtfully.
“Don’t give me that tone. I’m being serious. Everything I say or do, it’s not authentic. I’m doing it to get a reaction from you, to make you like me more or say what I want in return. It’s manipulation, Kon,” Tim insists.
“And what if I say those things because I wish to? Think about this, Tim, that perhaps when you’re sad, it’s my own choice to comfort you?”
