“Rumi, we know you’re queer as shit, if that’s what you’re worried about-” Mira interjected dryly, trying to lighten the mood the only way she knew how.
“W-what?”
“We don’t mind,” Zoey stepped in, ever so sweet and helpful, “It would be rather hypocritical of us, really.”
“What? No.” Rumi said quickly, head thrown for a loop. She shook her head, trying to come to terms with the implications of their words, and scrambling to take control of the conversation again. “I mean, yes.” She let out a panicked little laugh. “Okay. I guess that’s sorted, but that’s not it.”
“Well then what has you so worked up? Unless you’re dying, or secretly a demon-” Mira started up again, but she stopped short at the sight of Rumi’s full body cringe.
“I wish you didn’t say that.” Rumi said in a small, vulnerable voice to fill the sudden, sharp silence.Or:

The thought struck like a physical blow, knocking her breath out from the inside. Of course they were. Of course they had chosen each other; they fit, they made sense, they were a pair that moved like they’d been in love for years.
Where was Rumi supposed to go with a feeling this big when the space she wanted was already occupied? The shame of it rose hot—too late, too much, too obvious. It curdled into something bitter she didn’t recognize in herself.
“You like Zoey...and Zoey likes *you*.” The words left her tasting ash. “There is no space for me...not like that.”
The sentence trembled in the air between them, thin as glass. And then it shattered. Rumi couldn’t handle it.
“What?” Mira’s alarm was immediate, genuine; she leaned in like proximity could stop a misunderstanding from hardening into a fact. “Rumi that’s no—”

Summary
What if Rumi wasn't the only hunter that Celine raised to hide themselves? Zoey was raised hearing 'Our faults and fears must never be seen' just as much as Rumi, conditioned to hide away the part of herself that was a danger to herself and those around her. Now that Rumi's secret is out, shouldn't that mean that Zoey can also share her secret?
Zoey doesn't think so. Not when her secret is nothing but uncontrollable animal instinct that's been getting worse and worse as the years pass. However she doesn't get a choice when her heat comes on quicker and stronger. The wolf wants out of its cage and it wants its mates, now.
